Team Endurance Racing

 Team endurance races offer drivers much more track time than the traditional Grand Prix, and in a endurance race your team will complete hundreds of laps on the circuit.

 

 Driver Changes

We strongly advise that you appoint a team captain to organise tactics and driver changes.  It’s a tough challenge and splitting the time into 10-minute stints may be advisable – but it’s up to you.  If you drive in longer stints you sill spend less time in the pits but your driving standard may drop as you get tired.  A well-timed driver change at a key moment in the race can be the difference between defeat and victory.

 Stop-Go Penalties

With such a long race, overtaking manoeuvres do not need to be hurried and rules on contact are very strict.  Over-aggressive tactics and lack of control will be greeted with stop-go penalties.  Half-an-hour of good fast driving can be undone with just one bad manoeuvre or error of judgement.

 Re-fuelling

This is done by Raceway staff for safety reasons, but be aware of when it will take place and build it into your race plan.  There is no point in performing a risky over-taking manoeuvre just one lap before you are due for a fuel stop.

 Signalling

Teams should have their own signalling system as a way of communicating between driver and team.  Should you bring your driver to the pits or if your driver decides to come in early, good signalling saves time and confusion.

 Team Name

A good team name is essential for morale and for psyching out the opposition.  No obscenities please!

When it all goes horribly wrong and none of our advice has worked, simply select one or more of the following excuses to explain away your team’s miserable performance:

The Weather
